Press & Resources
HypeVoro is a free browser game where you solve maths while fictional internet distractions compete for your attention. Play a short round, review your game results and challenge a friend. No sign-up required.
What it is
HypeVoro's flagship challenge, How Chronically Online Are You?, is a scored round played entirely in the browser. Each round asks you to solve two-operation maths questions and tap the tile with the correct answer while fictional notifications, messages, trends and pop-ups compete for your taps. There is no sign-up, no download and no account — progress stays in your own browser.
At the end of a round you get a game score from 0 to 100 plus accuracy, correct-response time, mistakes and per-stage summaries. Scores describe that single session only.
A mistake is a wrong answer tile or an opened fictional distraction. Letting a notification expire counts as resisting it; unfinished notifications are excluded.
Classic runs for 30 seconds. Notification Chaos keeps the same duration and maths but uses a faster, noisier fictional feed. No-Mistake Mode is up to 30 seconds: The first wrong tile or opened fictional distraction ends the run. Results from different modes are not directly comparable.
Fast facts
- Free browser game, no sign-up, no download.
- One scored round of 30 seconds of active play, plus an untimed two-step practice. No-Mistake Mode is up to 30 seconds and the first wrong tile or opened fictional distraction ends the run.
- Two-operation maths (mixing +, −, × and ÷), answers between −20 to 30.
- 4 distraction stages of increasing pressure across the 30 seconds.
- Quick play, a shared Classic Daily Challenge (resets 00:00 UTC), and friend challenge links.
- Classic daily mode repeats one shared question sequence for each UTC calendar day. Complete a round with at least one correct answer to record the day; replays can improve the daily best but do not add a streak day.
- Friend links replay the same question sequence with a self-reported target score. Scores are not server-verified and are not population rankings.
- Game progress is stored in the current browser only. There is no account, cross-device sync or verified leaderboard.
- Current scoring version 3; friend and daily links carry v=3.
- Supporting guides explain attention, distraction and game limits, with research sources.
How to play
- Start the 30-second challenge — or try the untimed practice first.
- Solve each maths question and tap the matching tile; ignore or dismiss the fictional feed.
- Read your score, replay it, or send a friend the same question sequence to beat.
Full rules, the exact scoring formula and response-time definitions live on how the challenge works.
Methodology and limits
HypeVoro is entertainment. Scores describe a game session, not clinical attention, ADHD, intelligence, mental health, medical ability or real-world attention. The game is not clinically validated.
Game scores are entertainment results from one round. They are not diagnoses, not population rankings, and not evidence about everyday attention, intelligence, mental health or cognitive improvement. HypeVoro has no clinical validation and no population norms.
Pause is manual: it freezes active time and requires Resume. The game does not automatically pause on focus or tab changes.
Aggregate round statistics, when enough opt-in rounds exist, are published with methodology and limits on the Focus Index page. Small groups are suppressed and nothing is estimated.
